Savings Account

Opening a Share Savings Account is the first step in establishing your membership with Fidelis Catholic Credit Union. By simply maintaining a $25.00 balance, you become a member-owner of Fidelis and are eligible to benefit from all the Credit Union products and services we offer. You can deposit and withdraw from this dividend-earning account as often as you'd like. And no matter where life may take you, as long as you keep the minimum amount in this account you will always be a member of Fidelis.

ATM-Only Card
If you don't have a checking account, but want to access the funds in your Fidelis savings account at ATMs around-the-clock and around-the-world, our ATM-only card may be the right option for you. This card only allows you to deposit and withdraw money from an ATM, and does not allow you to make purchases or other transactions.

For that younger person ready to learn about managing money in a virtual, plastic card world, a Fidelis savings account with ATM-only card is an excellent combination for them to start with, and help the adults in their lives monitor and mentor them.

Share Certificates

Share Certificates are high yield term investments. With as little as $500 and terms ranging from 6 to 60 months, you'll earn on what you save on a monthly basis. Upon maturity, your Certificate will automatically renew for the same term at the current rate (unless otherwise specified). Certificates are a great option for earning money on what you save over a set period of time. Penalties for early withdrawal may apply.

Money Market Checking Account

If you are looking to earn high dividend rates on savings, but want funds to be easily accessible by check, consider a Money Market Checking Account. This account is a high yield savings account with check writing capability and offers tiered dividend rates.

Christmas Club Account

The Christmas Club Account allows members to accumulate funds throughout the year to save for holiday expenses. Members can make deposits anytime, including by use of convenient Payroll Deduction. Funds are transferred to the member's checking or share savings account on November 1st of each year.

To open an account, visit one of our office locations for more information or an application, call us at 303.424.5037, or email us.

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA)**

When it comes to planning and saving for the future, we're here to help make our members' aspirations possible by offering Traditional, Roth and Educational IRA accounts that can be used towards retirement, investment or education goals.

An IRA (Individual Retirement Account) can be opened or contributed to at any time of the year, not just at tax time. Anyone with $3,000 of earned income can contribute up to $3,000 a year to an IRA. Spousal contribution up to $3,000 per year is also allowed. You can also roll over your 401(k) or other qualified retirement plan from your previous employer to a Fidelis IRA, all the while keeping the great tax advantages. (Special restrictions apply, consult a tax advisor for more information. Tax- and penalty-free when rolling over into a Traditional IRA.)

You may choose to invest in either IRA Share Accounts or IRA Certificate Accounts. IRA Share Certificates can be opened with as little as $500! Members may transfer IRAs from other institutions to Fidelis.

Catch-Up Contributions

For taxable years beginning in 2004, individuals who have reached age 50 by the end of the year are able to make additional catch-up contributions of $500 per year to their Traditional or Roth IRA. For taxable years beginning in 2006, the additional catch-up amount increases to $1,000.*

Traditional IRA

Funds can be withdrawn without an IRS penalty if used for higher education purposes or first-time home purchases. Income limits for deductibility are being raised over the next several years, making more people eligible for fully deductible contributions. Deductibility for contributions for one spouse no longer depends on whether or not the other spouse is covered by a pension plan.

The annual contribution limit increases to $3,000 in 2004, $4,000 in 2005 and $5,000 in 2008. After 2008, the contribution limit will be adjusted annually for inflation in $500 increments. The annual limit applies to any combination of IRA plans other than ESA. Contributions are fully taxable if you are not an active participant in an employer retirement plan. Otherwise, phase out rules apply. Investments grow on a tax deferred basis. Earnings are taxed only upon withdrawal.* Limits on the adjusted gross income.

Roth IRA

This IRA was named after Senate Finance Committee Chairman William Roth. In a Roth IRA as long as you earn income, you can establish and contribute to a Roth IRA even after age 70. While the contributions won't be deductible on federal income tax return, there is a potentially greater tax benefit. Money left in the Roth IRA for at least five years and withdrawn after age 59 1/2 will not be taxed, no matter what tax bracket or income level.

By converting your IRA to a Roth IRA, you can enjoy tax-free withdrawals. However, the amount you convert is subject to income tax and penalty.*

Coverdell Education Savings Account

A Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESA), formerly Education IRA, is a great way for parents, grandparents and others to help meet the rising costs of a student's education.* Funds may be withdrawn, tax free, for higher education purposes. Deposits must be made before the student turns 18 and disbursed by age 30. For taxable years beginning in 2002, the annual contribution amount has been increased from $500 per beneficiary to $2,000 per beneficiary. While there is no tax deduction for amounts contributed to an ESA, earnings grow tax-free. And your ESA can be used to pay qualified elementary school and secondary school expenses as well as those for higher education.*

To start off, we want to share a few points with you from our end of protecting your safety, and suggestions to help you do so as well.

  • Fidelis will never sell or share your information with any unnecessary third party companies or vendors
  • We will never ask you for highly sensitive information such as your Social Security Number, account numbers, etc. via email or any other non-secure virtual means
    • If you receive communication via these channels asking you for this type of information, it's most likely spam and we ask you to contact us directly as soon as possible

    • You may share with us your phone number, address, etc. if you are certain you are communicating with us directly, but we suggest not listing or sharing any personal information if you are looking to communicate with us via non-secure virtual means. • Cyber Security Tips
    • Avoid unkown links and attachments - Be very careful of websites, ads, and emails promoting free or discounted prices, and make sure to not click on any links or attachments you don’t trust.
    • Check for https - When making online purchases, be sure the website is using the “https” protocol to confirm your information is secure.
    • Update Software - Keep all of your anti-virus software, browsers, and plug-ins up to date.
    • Watch out for WiFi - Be wary of the wireless networks you connect to while traveling. Connecting to a compromised network can lead to theft of your credentials and other personal information.
    • Password Protect Devices - Be sure to secure mobile devices with a PIN or password. Devices left un-attended and without a password are easy targets for criminals.
  • At ATMS
    • Be aware of your surroundings
    • If it looks like someone has tampered with the equipment, don’t use it
    • If a suspicious person offers to help you use the ATM, refuse and leave
    • Put your money and ATM card away before you leave the ATM
    • Always avoid showing your cash and always verify that the amount you withdrew or deposited matches the amount printed on your receipt
    • Shred or destroy your ATM receipts before you throw them away
  • For Debit, ATM and Credit Cards
    • Report lost or stolen cards immediately
    • Sign your card on the signature panel as soon as you receive it
    • Don’t leave your credit cards in your car’s glove compartment as a high percentage of credit card thefts are from car glove compartments
    • Keep your cards away from things with magnets, which can erase the information stored on the card’s magnetic strip
  • PIN Safety
    • Never write down your personal identification number (PIN), especially on the back of your card — instead memorize it
    • Don’t write down your account number and PIN and carry it with you because if your wallet or purse is stolen, someone else could have access to your money
    • Never tell anyone your PIN
    • No one from Fidelis, the police or a merchant should ask for your PIN
    • When selecting a PIN, avoid picking a number that is easy for others to guess — for example, your name, telephone number, date of birth, or any simple combination of these
    • When typing in your PIN at the ATM or when making a point-of-sale purchase, cover the number pad so no one near you can see your PIN
    • Change your current PIN from time-to-time to make it more difficult for fraudsters to guess
  • ID Theft & Fraud
